Being an F1 fan, I’ve always been familiar with the name Ligier. Their French blue cars were a fixture on the Grand Prix circuit for years. Turns out they also made a production sports car: The Ligier JS2.
According to GT France, the first JS2 was built in 1971. It featured a mid-mounted Maserati V6 — the same one in the Citroën SM. Its structure was also unique, combining steel with polyurethane foam (“Ligier Js2: Made In France”). The overall theme shares cues with sports cars of the same era, but with a quirky edge — a certain je ne sais quoi that all the French marques are famous for. Like many cool cars you’ve never heard of, this one had a *very* short production run. However, it managed to find a second life in racing, powered by a Ford Cosworth DFV. I’m not sure which version I like better: The road or the track. At any rate, this is an interesting chapter in French automotive history…

The design of the red car is attractive but not very practical.
The thing that surprises me is the size of the greenhouse. It’s really apparent in the racing photo.
