GM’s Design Direction in 140 Characters

head_gmtwit

Monday and Tuesday brought plenty of GM-related events, the majority of which were documented via social media.  The trips to the Design Center were especially sweet for many, as future vehicles and design direction were viewed.

Twitter played a huge part in the event, allowing the event-goers to let their friends (and the world, really) know about the upcoming cars.  Explaining a car design is rarely a simple task, especially when talking about details and form.  However, the use of Twitter forced the attendees to focus in on key words and viewpoints in describing the designs… 140 characters or less, baby!  As such, I’ve gathered some of those tweets for your reading pleasure.  Follow the jump to read ‘em!

Adam Barrera:

“Buick: muted, subtle, soft.”

“GMC: differentiated well, Terra4 ethic, modular.”

“Chevy: diverse (not one staunchly derivative template), very technical, broad forms.”

“Cadillac: “disciplined caricature”, surface language, great well-to-wheel.”

“Impressed by the red contrast stitching and non-slip trays in the Terrain & Equinox. @HoldenNews: that 3.0 SIDI sounds melodic, strong.”

Mike Juergens:

“I love the new #Cadillac Coupe that was unvailed to us today. I got a nod when asking about it compared to the S5.”

“#GM Designer: “Trying the Genesis coupe would be betraying my country”"

Joel Feder

“Third #Cadillac unveiled was fullsize dts/sts replacement. Very big. Very hot!!”

“BobLutz: Chevy=global volume,GMC=reliability, Buick= American luxury, Cadillac=luxury #GM #NGM”

Getting glimpse of the #Buick version of #SaturnVue….wow hideous. Lol. Seriously though hideous. Enclave is still hot #GMtech #GM #NGM

#GM says #GMC customers care about luxury but not about badges (I.e. #Cadillac customers) huh…. #GMtech

Michael Banovsky:

LMAO! Lutz: “Our interiors used to look like solidified lava” #GM

Spoiler alert: new Malibu, Buick Riviera, and a Cadillac done on the Opel Insignia platform. Epic win. #GM

FUTURE: #GMC=6-pass Kia Rondo-sized crossover @therealautoblog @jalopnik

FUTURE #cadillac: XTS (awesome-looking DTS/STS replacement), RTS Coupe (G37-sized), cool int. treatments @therealautoblog @jalopnik

FUTURE: #buick: Insignia-based model, rebadged *Vue* plug-in, SMALL maybe Cruze-based sedan, SMALL x-over (Sportage-sized), *coupe* models…”
