Sketch P*rn

naiastemplate-18Happy Monday folks!  What better way to start the week off than to have some fresh inspiration.  The images for today all revolve around quick renderings.  THese are all somewhat loose, not totally descriptive sketches.  Designers seldom have time to do the college level full blown perfect renderings.  So enjoy and hopefully one of these will help this week.

In honor of the new Buick LaCrosse we reviewed last week here is a Canson style rendering.  Very nice line work with some subtle surface highlights is all you need to read the form.  Thanks to IDSketching and Richard Duff for the sketch.

Here is a great example of using a loose thumbnail and immediately putting color into it to help develop more of the form.  Very loose and dirty but reads well from a distance.  Perfect for development sketches.

The classic black background with white highlights.  Always a successful way to go but even better here with the yellow added.  The localized area of color really helps the sketch pop off the page.

Another good development sketch.  Basic pencil line drawing with airbrushed photoshop over top.  The color describes the form and adds visual interest over the basic pencil line drawing.  The vignette of color into the tires helps focus your eye to the vehicle body instead the of the entire image.

One more Canson style rendering with a painterly style to it.  Three basic values make up the form of the vehicle.  The form is easily readable without a ton of detail.

I hope these quick rendering styles with help with your productivity and maybe even give you a new way of tackling a sketch.  If you have some sketches that you think deserve Sketch P*rn labeling, send your .jpg this way and we would love to showcase it.  Tell us about your style and process so other may learn the ways of the Jedi.  Or something like that.

Duff has a nice sketch of the LeCrosse, not over done and the line work is nice!
