If there is one event we look forward to every year around NAIAS time, it is the annual Design Forum hosted by AutoWeek. The event brings together Creatives from all aspects of the industry and focuses on our important contributions to the automotive world.
Blame the recent perils of the industry, then, for the postponement of 2009′s Design Forum. The magazine will work towards future events, including the 2010 Design Forum.
Here is the official word from AutoWeek:
The announcement was made late last week to postpone the 2009 AutoWeek Design Forum. AutoWeek remains dedicated to the design world and it’s influence on the automotive industry and because of this, will continue to move forward in planning future programs, including the 2010 AutoWeek Design Forum.
It’ll be a shame that we won’t have it this year, but we’re still hopeful that Design will again be front and center in 20-10.
Stay tuned to AutoWeek.com for Design Forum info.

You know, all of us who attend this event annually will miss this immensely. But more than that, the Design Forum celebrates the very thing, design and engineering, that is the cornerstone of positive change and success in a 21st Century reality. Now, more than ever, this event should have been focused on that change and the exciting future it holds for those with the courage and vision to embrace it.
So yes, shame is the right word here, and it is one indeed.
why not make provisions for those who have come annually and alread have hotel and travel bookings to at least obtain tickets to the show that day as industry participants.
this is when the true followers of the auto industry need to rise and shine and see what is coming from the manufactures who are showing.

I’m with you Ian.
Even if you search on the AW site you can’t find this page. And seeing as how only two of us have seemed to care enough to leave a note it doesn’t bode well for the future now, does it?
Perhaps there is a possibility for at least a Design meet-up to take place during the week. I know that there is the annual Designer’s Night that we attend, but a tour of the show floor as a group could be a small way to salvage the show for this year.
As an aside, we at CarDesignfetish had initially tried to organize a “mini-forum” for those in town for the week, but interest was low. If someone would like to help us and take the initiative to potentially organize a mini-event we would be all ears. Feel free to contact us at cardesignfetish [at] gmail [dawt] com.
Danny. I was planing on coming up to check out the show. Call me later, I want to head up with you and Dustin.
Peace.
well we could all go to Milan in april instead…!
