Local Motors has just kicked off their third vehicle design competition, the “Air Base Motors” comp.

The design challenge bases itself on a vehicle found on an air base, for the often rigorous use by military personnel.  In other words, not your father’s Oldsmobile.  This can be a fun, non-production concept that designers should thoroughly enjoy.

Requirements:

Four wheels, with a wide track for handling and stability.
Central seating position for one or two occupants, like a cockpit.
Front, Mid, or Side engine configurations will be considered.
Off-Road or On-Road vehicles are encouraged.

The competition runs from 15 July until 22 July.  Prizes include $1500 and a ton of LM swag.
