Dell’s ReGeneration Design Competition

dell_regen_head

Our good friends at Dell are holding a Green design competition for computer technology.

These competitions, similar to those by Microsoft, and automotive OEMs, are great ways for students and professionals to get truly creative… and possibly win some cash in the process.

Dell is inviting everyone to try their hand at “design concepts and innovations for technology products that demonstrate refreshed approaches and responsible solutions for green computing technologies.”

The prizes total up to $160,000. For more info, visit: http://www.dell.com/DesignReGeneration

Full release after the break.

A Special Invitation to Designers

“we’re living in the Re-Generation, which includes people of all ages throughout the world
who want to make a difference in improving the Earth we all share.”
Michael Dell, London, England, June 5, 2007

Dell Inc.
ReGeneration:
International Green Computing Technology Design Competition

Sponsored by the Dell Experience Design Group / Global Team

Dear fellow designer:

I hope you have heard about Dell’s ReGeneration: International Green Computing Technology Design Competition. We think it’s very important that the design community engage in this program and I am writing to invite you to enter.

The competition is part of Dell’s commitment to the ReGeneration – people of all ages who care about the environment. Open globally to anyone over the age of 18, we believe that the design community’s inspiration is crucial to the future of the world. Designers can contribute uniquely to resolving today’s environmental challenges, given their role in the product development cycle and their ability to give form to ideas. I’m pleased to say that response has been excellent and entries are being uploaded onto the web site already.

The prizes are as substantial as the theme is urgent: a panel of jurors will select 5 finalists to receive $10,000 each. These finalists will then be presented for a popular vote and that winner will receive an additional $15,000 prize. Plus, the first 40 preregistered educators will receive the $2,000 Design Educator Award and, if one of their student’s wins the popular vote, their school receives an additional $15,000. The total possible prize money of $160,000 is a serious commitment to making progress on a serious issue for the world.

Please check out www.dell.com/DesignReGeneration for details on the competition and be sure to read the Official Rules in full. The deadline is April 2, so now’s the time to get started.

I hope you find the time to help us push the envelope and that Dell will have the pleasure of honoring your work to advance the sustainability dialog in computing technologies.
Best regards,
Ken Musgrave
