Me Likey!

concept-ra

Mitsubishi seems to be finally getting on the right track. The Lance is out and looking pretty good. Their concept cars always look great but they never seem to make it to production. The Eclipse of the early 90′s was a hot little hatch, and the current “concept” version of the eclipse “looked” great as well. Here they go again for round 4 to see if they can get the zestiness back they once had.

Volkswagen Slipstream Wins Robocar 2057

Posted by Dalibor Dimovski On November - 26 - 2007

Well, as we said in our previous post VW certainly had the prettiest presentation, albeit the least “wacky tobacky” influenced.

It seems as though the judges of the Robocar 2057 LA Autoshow Design Challenge agreed, as the Vee Dub from the future won the competition.

What next for the little one-seater-that-could? Stars, celebrity parties, drinking problems, and eventual designation to the Studio’s wall of fame… you know, that little corner in the back of the room where one-offs go to die.

Heck, at least we got some pretty pictures out of it!

Congrats VeeDub!

Cars that make us drool!

On one of my forums, the topic recently came up about cars that make us drool………… sometimes we get caught up with too much design talk an not enough design, so here you go!

Well, it is really that simple, here are some cars past and present tht make me drool. The only other point I would like to make is that there are so many beautiful cars from the past, sometimes we have to look back to really understand where we can push the future. I just found an interior detail on an old production Porsche 944 that an engineer told me was impossible, he did not know his past…….. really blew him away when I showed him the picture…….

WARNING, MANY MANY PICTURES MAKE TAKE A MOMENT TO LOAD

New Look Just For U!

Posted by Dustin Shedlarski On November - 21 - 2007

refresh

We hope you enjoy the new look of the fetish.  The other was getting a little dated, so we thought we’d freshen up for auto show season.

Check out our need Supply Shop at the top of the page.  Currently there are design books and DVD’s that will be great for Christmas or the tired design student.  We will continue to add more design related items to the shop, so be sure to check it out regularly.

Have a great Turkey Day and we will talk to ya after the break.

Detroit’s Coming…

chry1

Well we didn’t even get to eat our turkey yet and the Detroit show previews are rollin’ out. Here are the first concepts from the new Chrysler group. Have things been watered down since the new ownership or did they spice things up? I can’t say a whole lot since they are sketches but there is nothing jaw dropping. Check out the sketches below and let us know what you think.

Another Hit from Ford

Posted by Dustin Shedlarski On November - 20 - 2007

verve1

How could one brand have duplicates of its products range from the best to the worst in the market?

Ford NA, the new Focus, I won’t even post a pic of this waste of metal.

Ford Euro, the new Verve (Fiesta), could possibly be the next trend setter in compact cars. This car is hot and looks fresh, kind a like the future……

BMW’s Next Venture: Your Kitchen

Posted by Dalibor Dimovski On November - 19 - 2007

Autoblog is reporting on BMW’s new Espresso machine for StarBucks.

BMW’s DesignWorks created what they are calling an “iconic” design for this product. Although it may in fact be less than memorable (we’ve seen far more creative interpretations of coffee-makers) it does show off some of Bimmer’s design capability.

In a world where automotive studios are venturing more into the product design world (read: hard drives, laptops, mobile phones) this is BMW’s way to keep pace with everyone else.

Lincolns’ New Face

Posted by Dustin Shedlarski On November - 16 - 2007

lincoln1

When I saw the Lincoln MKR at last years NAIAS I had new hope of American styling being the leader once again. The MKR was a beautiful car with great form and “bold” graphics/details. To me it encompassed all the arrogance Detroit has to offer, but in a good way, a way that would bring consumers back to the domestics. This was a concept though and I knew it wouldn’t make it to production the same way it was shown. I hoped Ford would realize that they couldn’t afford to water it down and would push to make it production feasible. Well, I guess all you could do is hope…..
