Not Quite…But Almost

Hey there, things have been kind of crazy here in Fetish land, so we apologize for the lack of posts. As working designers, projects come in waves of work as you all know. We will be sure to get back on track next week.

Frankfurt has been going on and there has been some interesting vehicles and a lot of ho hum designs. We will start commenting on those that have interest.

I will start with the one vehicle that I was excited to see, and it isn’t even a concept car.

The production Ford Kuga based off of the concept Iosis X from a year or so back.

The flavor is still there but in a less intense kind of way. I am sure a set of wheels and tires could get back a lot of the stance that it lost. This is still a great looking production car.

The rear has a nice graphic breakup. It certainly doesn’t fell boxy, but it is getting close to looking like a Subaru Tribeca with the tail lights bulging over the rear quarters. An integrated skid plate makes reference to the off-raod nature it wants to be. The exhaust cutting thru the skids are a nice touch.

The interior definitely lacks the excitement from the concept. One day interior design will be treated as an equal in car design. The sparse gloss white accents are spotty and make no sense, except that the designer really wanted it some where inside. The only highlight I see inside is the orange piping on the seat inserts. That is brave and fresh for production.

The concept…

It is too bad we won’t be seeing this Kuga anytime soon. I am sure the mother Cougars would love to pick up there young studs in this ride. Plenty of room to recline the seats back.

Here is a pic of the car that started it all with the “Kinetic” design language. Thank you Iosis.

And we all love a sketch….
