300 Facelift?

August 03rd, 2007 | Category: Fetishing, Production Car

300

I haven’t heard of any 300 refreshes, so this caught my attention. Nothing in the form seems to have changed so why cover it up? Something fishy must be going on under there. Any thoughts on where Chrysler can take this design. Will they tweak it or just abandon it and go cab-forward again to look more fuel conscience?

I also spotted a new Challenger half under cover, but didn’t have time to grab the camera. I must admit that when the concept or rebirth came out last year, I wasn’t real impressed. Kind of like when Ford brought back the GT. Re-proportioning an old design doesn’t excite me, but I know there is a cult following for these cars so it is fun to have the enthusiasts lose their load over it. Anyway, seeing it in the road changed my opinion. The car is big, meaty, and looks very commanding. It will be great to see the trio (Challenger, Camaro, Mustang) fighting down Woodward on a Saturday night.

Summer Car Party

August 02nd, 2007 | Category: Events, Fetishing

party1

Summer parties are the best when they involve your best friends and great cars. Probably not the typical set up for the backyard bbq, but when you are a car enthusiast, this is how it’s done. And don’t think you have to live in Detroit to make this work either. This particular party I went to last weekend was in the Cleveland area and I was not the only out of towner. As I woke up in the back of my truck I could here a cop rolling by asking why the yard looked like a used car lot…..ah what a good night.

Thanks for throwing a great party Andy! Check out the pics below…

X6 Showin’ Its Back Side

August 02nd, 2007 | Category: Concept Car, Production Car

x6-1

Here is some real hotness headed our way. The BMW X6 sport coupe/CUV/SUV/hatchback thingy. Blurring the lines once again in packaging and classification this vehicle has more ground clearance than a sedan but a lower roof line than a CUV/SUV. These are the first pics showing the sloping roof line toward the rear of the vehicle. I am excited to see this proportion finally make it to the road. We have all seen this style/proportion in school projects for years, I guess those students have gotten jobs.

x6-2

This certainly isn’t the first vehicle to look like this…anyone remember the old AMC Eagles. Four doors, good ground clearance, 4wd; if only they were still around they would be rollin’ in it. The Dodge Avenger concept from a couple years ago also had a very similar proportion. Too bad the design got squished, twisted, pulled and prodded to become the Caliber. Dodge could have been on the fore front leading the way.

x6-3

I wonder what company will be following this proportion next?

Thanks for the pics Left Lane News.
