And the Award for Best American Car Company goes to…

Ahh, Saturn. You red-headed step child of our loving GM family. You have your mother’s eyes and the German milkman’s cladding.

Saturn has come a long way, with GM finally admitting that they should have brought over Opel much sooner. In one simple generational leap Saturn has gone from Ion laughing-stock to Aura and Astra world-conquerors, that even the Spartans of 300 couldn’t take down.

And now, GM has improved on an already great-looking vehicle by introducing the Aura Green Line.

Not only is this an efficient hybrid vehicle that can compete against the other hybrids slowly flooding the market, but it is also the most affordable, sailing in under $23K for the base price.

The numbers: 28 City/35 HWY

Yes, GM has a winner in their turnaround process. The Detroit Giant is still the US King of Design, even if their work is done in Europe. Saturn especially has shown in the past couple of years that they are holding the torch over the “don’t offend me” attitude of Chevy and the awkwardness of Buick design. Design studios are finally realizing that you don’t have to look different to be a hybrid… just look good.

Now, give me an Astra GL and I might consider trading in the TT in the garage.

Nah, not yet.
