Cleveland, the Milan of the midwest?

January 25th, 2007 | Category: Design

dodlogo.jpg

There is a proposal underway to make Cleveland the core of design for the U.S. This is pretty interesting and encouraging for us designers. Northeast Ohio is a great area to work with, water access, airports, culture, restaurants, night life and sports teams; there is plenty to keep you busy. Here is an excerpt from the website about the District of Design

Building an Economy Around Design

“Northeast Ohio possesses many of the key ingredients to be a leader in design and innovation. By fostering a design culture, drawing on regional assets and capitalizing on the increasing design awareness, the region can position itself as a long-term leader in design and innovation. This emphasis will result in top-line revenue growth that will strengthen the regional economy.”

I love this car.

January 24th, 2007 | Category: Fetishing

I think the Simpsons got it right and wrong. To think that the average man/woman could design a car even this ugly is a stretch to me.

El’ Presidente Speaks the US listens….. well a few of us.

W Bush

So what do you expect America?

“20% reduction in gasoline consumption in 10 years.”

We elected a president who
A. Is rich because of oil
B. Friends are rich because of oil
C. Family is rich because of oil
D. His home state is rich because of oil

So……. Finally after years of turning down energy policy’s that make sense, after turning down and scoffing at people who call for conservation, after repealing laws that will actually help the environment……….. Finally, after just about everyone in the US understands the path that we are on in not right. Finally El’ Dubba, has put forth some conservation, and

The BMW 1 Series for US

January 24th, 2007 | Category: Concept Car, Production Car

Word on the street is that BMW will not bring the 1 series to the US as a “HOT HATCH” like the rest of the world gets.
The US market is odd in the way that traditional hatchbacks have not sold well in the past. Nevermind the VW Rabbit,Golf or Honda Civic SI………

So here is an artist rendering of the 1 series, it can be quite hot in the non hatch version.

Venturi Astrolab

January 23rd, 2007 | Category: Design

diapo_image9_big1.jpg

The Venturi Astrolab is, in Venturi’s words “the first high-performance solar vehicle to be commercialized in the world.” To be more specific, it is a Solar-Electric concept vehicle that recharges its batteries while in motion. In fact as far as solar-powered vehicles go it doesn’t require constant sun-time to remain active, thanks to the combo Venturie NiMH liquid-cooled batteries and high-density solar panels.

Now that Barrett-Jackson Auction is over………

January 23rd, 2007 | Category: Fetishing

For those of you who don’t know Barrett-Jackson is one of the largest car auctions in the world. It brings people in from all over the world and is billed as a car extravaganze. Bottom line is that it sets the prices for what people can expect to get from their classic to modern collector cars. It is like a candy shop for those who have money to burn on beautiful cars.

***Here is where you can find all the recent cars that sold and at what price***click here***

Hot Sketch

January 22nd, 2007 | Category: Concept Car, Design, Production Car

I found this sketch hidden on my hard drive, and thought it was too good to keep all to myself. It was done by a great artist and designer. One truely inspirational person in my design career.

Plug In Hybrid’s are coming.

January 22nd, 2007 | Category: Concept Car, Design

Now I am a Petrol Head as much as the next guy. I love Torque and Horse Power. I love the subtle drift that a 300HP rear wheel drive vehicle with a limited slip differential will get into when you exit 696 East onto Woodward Ave. and hit the light just as it is turning green and carry that slide through 4 lanes of traffic………. Um sorry got off topic.

I was just trying to say there is also a strange joy in never having to stop at a gas station again. (or at least around town) I am an early adopter, so I have been thinking about buying one for a while.

I hope Chevy produces this one.
