Concept cars are cool, Production cars suck!

Infinity Production Seat

Here is a topic that everyone here at CarDesignFetish is HOT on.

Autoshow concept interiors are filled with new and exciting ideas. Production car interiors SUCK the royal dong. For those of you in the industry (inclucing me) we know this, and are saddened by it. Year after year there are countless numbers of hot interiors that are put forth, only to collect dust in a warehouse somewhere. Lets break this down a bit shall we.

Concept Infinity Seat

Production IP…….. Boring
Production Seating. Boring
Production Door…… Boring

There are light weight inexpensive composits out there use them. There are different materials other then metal and plastic (believe it or not). The main reason interiors have stayed relatively the same over the last 50 years is infastructure. You have a seatbelt supplier, don’t F-up their supply. You have a seating structure supplier, don’t mess with their structure. You have an arm at the factory that installs the IP, don’t mess with how the IP is installed…. and so on and so on and so on…..
